Default Standard T3 Turbo's V's Hybrid T3's........

What are the various options to make a Standard T3 better?

What about the various .48 housings etc...???

Any bits that could changed without requiring major reworking???

A T34....how is it different?

All wondered and never really got around to asking....

a stg 1 T3 has a 360 bearing
a Stg 2 has a larger 2wd compressor wheel
a stg 3 has stg 2 plus 48 ex housing

a 4x4 cossie has a larger compressor wheel

a T34 has a 63 ex housing and a larger compressor wheel and housing

and there are other options such as a 55 ex housing for example

what car is it for ?

Absolutely right

Im using a 4x4 Turbo which was reconned as a hybrid although i dont know what spec.

Thats why i was wondering if i could change the exhaust turbine housing or not?
and if so what to and what would be the benefit?

all depends on if you need to mate, what sort of power are you wanting to get with the motor?

mmm very simular setup to mine then i imagne. i am running a t34 with a .48 and 360 bearing and it does the job nicley, on the other hand my mate was running the same spec with a t33 (standard) turbo and that worked well too. (although he has just changed to a t34)

to be honest if your running 330bhp and your turbo has a 360 bearing i dont see any probs with sticking with it.
in that car you want as little lag as posible cause mine still goes sideways in 3rd when she boost's up!

Thanks for that.

Just out if interest have you tried any of the varoius methods for altering the boost characteristics, from the simple manual controller upto a boost programmer.

I was just looking at a website that uses a ball valve unit and a solenoid wire to a microswitch for full throttle.

This setup costing about £20 gave low boost (adjustable) then when full throtle or whereever you want it to full boost.

I like the sound of that, as for normal driving its not full on all the time until wot when you want it.

at the moment my car was set up on high boost all the time (24psi)
but like you are probably thinkin this is just to much for normal driving and you go to overtake a car at normal pace and then it HELLLLLOOOOO!

when im rebuilding my car im going to just use a standard amal valve to give me high and low boost with an arming switch on the dash not on the throttle, that ones being saved for the nos arming switch!
