Default 4 x 4 Crank - what size should it be?

Hi folks,

Anyone know what size a standard Cos 4 x 4 Crank bearings should be?

I'm about to buy one that is :

"main ends are 57.02mm and the rod ends are 52.01mm"

Is this standard size? Or has it been machined?

Anyone know?

Cheers
Simon

Answering my own question as noone else has

According to Technicians manual:

Main Bearing Journal Diameter 56.975 - 56.959
Crank I'm buying: 57.02mm

Big End Journal Diameter 51.993 - 51.977
Crank I'm buying: 52.01mm

So by my reckoning that's bigger than standard! Oversized crank? Is that a mod or something? Cool

Realistically though i guess it's poss slightly inaccurate measuring, but at least it sounds too big rather than too small!

cheers costina - it was measured with a digital vernier apparently.

Will measure it myself when it's here just to double check - I'm building a 500 bhp engine so it needs to be right!

Evening Steve,

Nearly sorted the spec, but all I know for certain is the bottom end needs to be strong hence this crank!

Still no turbo or injectors though! Still undecided / haven't got the definitive answer on that part. 500 bhp is sooo tempting, but is the outlay worth it?

Got any pics of the new beastie you can send me?

Interestingly, I have some Konis, and some Greens, or Greys, and two chips, and a turbo that would all fit nicely on your car!

Tomorrow night will be cool - could maybe do with a lift up as not sure if Phil is going at the mo...

I don't think they are to be honest, tho I'm sure they could be persuaded to fit with a small sledge hammer!

Maybe someone else reading this will no for sure...

At least parts for 2wd cars are very common - always big brake kits etc cropping up in the parts for sale. Keep your eyes peeled
