have they got a ford stamp or a part number stamped in them anywhere, i got a set and wanna find out if they are genuine items or copies.

I have genuine ones and I cant remember them having a Ford stamp but haven't really looked to be honest-maybe mine are fake

just checked a new Ford supplied set and no markings on them at all - I believe the way to tell genuine from repro is on the genuine ones the adjuster on the side with the allen key in it is injection moulded plastic with a metal wire clip, where as the repro one have a metal fabricated set up with no plastic

Hi mate

to be honest what difference does it make if they are genuine or not ??

I have a set of gen ones and a set of copy's and to be honest the copies are better made and look identical in everyway

if thats the case then the set i got of ebay last year are genuine, they were advertised as ford ones, came wrapped in a ford bag but had no part no on the bag or grills.

Hi Steve

thanks , what i have found with the gen ones is that you can take them all apart the mesh part can seperate from the clips they are only held in with little plastic like screws


if you look at the front of them with the mesh infront of you just behind the mesh at each corner you will see the litle plastic clips they look like a very tiny plastic poprivit thats one way of telling

or if you post a pic on here i'll tell you if they are gen or not

The originals are not stamped with a part number or a Ford logo but do have an R and an L stamped into them i'll let you work out why
