Default wish me luck

right the dump valves going back on tonight, im fed up of feeling i dont have a proper turbo! (I did have it on before but took it off cos the car kept cutting out every time I took my foot off the gas and then was a mission to get it started up again.

Spoke to sum1 I know and he said something about keeping it greased up and it definetly wont cut out.

Fingers crossed!

Julia, what kind of dump valve is it? They can all be made to run right, but there's so many variables.

sounds like you've got a single piston one which is why its trying to stall...

get a twin piston one on there and you'll be fine

(or as everyone else says, leave it off)

Needs to be a bailey DV26. When you remove the allen screws from the top inside you'll find a spring and 2 plastic sleeves (marvellous way to spend Ł100/not) if there are not these 3 items in there no amount of grease will make it run correctly. All d/v's leak slightly (wasting precious boost) why would you want to do this? Kinda makes no sense!

As much as respect that people can do anything to their car that they like,I think youre mad refitting an item that gave you trouble and will more than likely give trouble again.Plus a dumpvalve does nothing, except make a gay noise!!Are you having a "blonde" moment??? Regards Micky

Julia, Does my pf name do it for you aswell?

Seriously tho, if you want the noise, get a NEW twin piston dump valve. Personally i cant stand the noise of bailey dump valves, they are SO common and they make a shitty tinny, metally sound imo. ATLEAST get some other make TWIN PISTON job.

If this dump valve caused problems then it's more than likely the wrong type or it is leaking, a bit of grease wont stop it leaking, i reckon the person who told you this thinks that it was sticking open/not closing fast enough.

The valve itself is POINTLESS, it does nothing for your car and im sure their are plenty other ways you can be turned on. . .

Julia, that "keeping it greased up" comment is complete bollocks. It will still cut out.

Get a twin piston valve or it will be just the same.

Off topic - makes you wonder how many std rst's are about with soft actuators, not running full boost (well full std boost)

Mine was that soft, it was opening with less than 1 psi behind it when we removed and tested it......

still not on, just not had the time.

I always imagined myself when I wanted an rs turbo to be vrooom psssshting about the place (person choice) and I feel ive not got the full parcel by not having the dump valve. Its like for u guys getting down to it with a playboy girlie and finding she has no boobs or something I dunno.

The dump valve is pinky red and welded onto that big long ford thing that goes over ur engine

The big long for thing is the cross over pipe/charge carrier whichever you want to call it

As you can tell by my name, that's what i immagined too, but when I found out better, I realised it's not all about vroooom ptssshing, it's about making the best of your car, enjoying it for what it is, improving it in whichever or all aspects you choose

each to their own, if you are still really wanting the noise, get a NEW twin piston dump valve
