Stripping out the Xr3i to bare minimum....

What is required for legal purposes.

And what can I bin !!

you need

a working seat belt
front wipers, rear not required
hazzards
indicators
headlights
handbrake
all lights working, dont need reverse
good seal on petrol cap

by law you need one, but not for mot.

you do need the lights for indicators etc so best keep the gauge cluster.

Always thought (probs old wives tale ) that if a car was produced/made with something it had to have it and work for an mot (know that not the case myself as know cars can pass an mot with the ABS not working so kinda shooting my own statement in the foot lol) any sorta clarification on that as that means even something fitted to the car dont have to work

i was told that if it had it it had to meet certain critiria, if it does not have it then it didnt apply.

cracked windscreen, remove the windscreen and it cant fail (so im told)

if the abs was fitted as standard it should work i e if the abs light is on then it should fail its mot

youll need dash indicators for fog lamp indicators and full beam so best to keep the instrument cluster, seat and seat belt nnnn thats about it interior wise off the top of me head
