You might find that a 2.8 Capri diff at 3.09:1 may be a bit tall geared for what you're putting under the bonnet - might be easier throwing a complete Mk2 Rs 2000 axle in, especially if you're giving it a 5 speed box as well - it'll have a decent top speed on the Capri diff, but acceleration will be a bit lacklustre when compared to the Escort unit - it all depends what you're after out of the car - a pokey high speed cruiser - or an animal off the lights?

hi lez we are putting a modded pinto in it so it should pull the gearing ok but the main reason for the capri axle was the cheap lsd . we picked up a complete capri 2.8i special last night for 300 quid taxed and moted but the gearbox is a bit dodgy but a rebuild should sort that out it also has full service history and has only done 47k bargin also we may put the 2.8 in me mates sierra

you'll need to cut of the capri axle brackets and weld some of these on further in.
[<img src=http://img2.photobucket.com/albums/v11/scrote/axle_brackets.JPG>
although if you don't have big arches the axle will be too wide.
also need to add tramp barckets
and put in a big diff tunnel or hammer the floor.
flange should be fine though.

those brackets are gartrac but other places will do them too. reason i said about the anti-tramp brackets is 'cos you mentioned rs2000 which have them.

As the original said, capri axle is too wide w/o extensions. Diffirence is + 85mm. I wonder that "big diff tunnel or hammer"; no need if you don`t have fourlink -suspension set-up, if my memory serves me right...
And when welding flanges to axle; tilt axle up 4 degrees (=Escort orig. tilt)to avoid transmission judder.
