Reasons for selling an escos
all going well, within the next year or so i am hoping to be buying a escort cosworth, providing my new buisness does ok
i was just wondering for people who have owned one then sold it, what where your reasons for the sale
th emain reason i ask this is the fact that i have wanted one of these for around 13years since thay came out and am worried that after a while the novelty wears off

had my first one for a couple of yrs then sold it when i blew the engine up,got another which i kept for 5 yrs [small turbo version]then wanted more power so sold that and bought another big turbo which i still have to this day
I'm on my third!!
My first, mallard big t- sold because i didnt like the colour (regret selling though)

My second (in a few different guises!), red, done 26k- was mint- but sold as it wasnt quick enough! (Small turbo!)

My third (and final!!), ash black monte carlo, done 29k- as mint as my red one above!
How it was a wk ago when i picked it up!

How it looks now!

Soon to be ahmed stage111'd and Mr Hadland will be sorting the braking out!

I had big turbo brand new in 1992 and sold it in 1995 then bought another one [small turbo] in 2004 and had planned to go big spec/power but then tried a Skyline and sold EsCos a week later. If you have always wanted one go for it and if you decide you have had enough of it at least they hold their value well and you can move it on.
I had a big turbo escort cos a few years back. Kept it for about 6 months, loved the attention it created etc but was always worried about leaving/parking it anywhere. Also always worried if anything went wrong with it (was up to stg3 but nothing did actually go wrong!). In the end got bored and bought an M3!
I probably wouldn't buy another one though!

for me as i was "-" that close to selling last week is the unreliability - ive gone through mine and sorted all teh problems but then its the straw that breaks the camels back and u think will it ever be right..?!?! once my engine is done - thats it, every aspect of teh car will have been tended to with love and money

I sold mine because i was using it as a daily driver but felt i couldn,t leave it anywhere which at times was inconvenient and also we found the boot was too small when going to shows,we have kids so it really couldn,t take the pushchair, sunchairs and thousands of coats we seem to take with us

I went to view K7 WYE, (number plate was smething to do with river severn and Wye valley IIRC??) 3 and half years ago... in Bristol I think it was... VERY nearly bought it, I chose the Monte instead and Simon bought it ... I guess you took it off Simons hands??
Funniily enough the owner of that car wrote a letter to Rallye News about Simon and I saying everyone else buggered him about except us LOL!!

But they do look nice

After spending lots of money on it - which you find you will, if you buy one it is probably very hard to sell - I can't imagine selling mine and there are guys on here that have spent alot more that me.
Very mixed feelings on the escort cosworth situation.
I bought my first one, big turbo, light blues, 24k miles and as mint as you can find. Loved it to bits, i was 23 and always wanted one, i lived at home and had money to burn. I sold it only to get on the property ladder and regretted every minute
. I bought another last year 4 years on from the last one and i never used it. I regretted buying it and sold it shortly after. Just not as into them now...but a good point for you is even thought i tried to get back into them i didnt lose a penny, infact i made a couple of hundred so that covered insurance id paid.
