Default Cleaning Gurus

Decided to give the car a thorough clean today including the wheel arches.



Got this black stuff which i couldn't get off, can anybody sugest something that may do the trick ?



im not even sure what it is, guess it could be mud thats built up behind the wheel arch liner

Looks like either schwartz (underseal) or tar.

Try some petrol on a rag first, that usually moves anything but it may be hard work..........

yup its underseal or something... WOuldnt bother it will only be covered by the arch liner...

Tell you what I would do (have done) Leave it till the summer when its nice and dry then waxoil it, put the arch liners on and leave it

im very tempted to rub down the tiny bits of surface rust and spray it, thats why i wanted to know how to get it nice and shiny

Definately get rid of the surface rust and repaint it - but then cover in waxoyl and put the liners back in mate. Job done.

BUT if you are wanting to paint it do as above and remove underseal or what ever with petrol etc

Ain't got to be a concourse job mate, just make sure the paint goes on evenly and dries properly before waxoyling. The liners are going over the top anyway so won't matter too much as long as there's plenty of paint and waxoyl on there.
