help with...

trying to get some sleep and rest.i always struggle to get to sleep and probly have on average 4-5hours a night.just wondered how people rest/get to sleep if that doesnt sound to stupid  lol.

If I really can't get to sleep then I usually crack out the old ipod and listen to one song that I really like but isn't relaxing reasonably loud (at the moment it is usually something by Clavin Harris) and then listen to three songs that I like but do find relaxing quite quietly, getting quieter with each one (currently JayZ & Mr Hudson - Forever Young, Dead Mau5 and Kaskada - I Remember and The Smashing Pumpkins - 1979) works 99% of the time, am usually almost asleep by the end of 1979.

I listen to my pure moods album. This song is amazing for falling asleep too.

I had this moment once where I was so out of it, I put my hand under me and there was a gap between me and the bed... LOL!

Try going to bed and reading or doing a crossword if thats your thing. Relax, get warm, engage the brain and tire your mind out.

Helps if you've exercised that evening too.

Do you drink lots of caffeine or any other type of stimulant throughout the day? You might need to look for the cause, rather than the cure?

Also, after your 5 hours do you still feel tired or are you refreshed and alert? Some people can get by on less sleep than others, maybe you are one of those?

A hot bath can help too, and then straight into bed. :)

Definitely think caffeine can be key for a lot of people not needing a lot of sleep - things like diet coke are just as bad as coffee and red bull!

Scientificaly they reckon hottest bath you can stand and a bit of hows your father. Some people use Melatonin as a sleeping aid. This link has plenty of info too
