I recommend using http://filezilla-project.org/ for your ftp client. I use it to download off my server onto my home pc. You need to change the max connections from the default 1 to 8 or 10 if you wish by clicking edit>settings..>transfers and it should be the 1st option at top.
Also is it 1 file at a time your trying to upload and what size?

have you fixed it in the settings?
as it may have a restriction or something
and you may upload it to me
if you want to give it a shot
if you using firefox its a add on that is named fireftp. its OK but its restriction of the size you could transfer
You could try Cute FTP its one of the best
I am using that at the moment

or in the ftp client

I just created a test torrent and sent a link to my mate to see if he could download a file from my PC to his PC using a torrent client. In the torrent was one file - a 2.6mb mp3
It took him 26mins to download it fully
And he's on an 8meg ADSL connection that usually see's well seeded albums (80-100mb) in less than 5 mins
