are the bearings scored as if something has had contact with them as mention like bits of swark

could be that the bearings were incorrectly fitted

in terms of the end of the bearing was crimped by the cap when torqued down

so they could be out of line then that little bit of bearing scarp ypur bottom end

just a thought as this happened to my mates engine
