one thing what most people do, is the wiring on the fans has to be correct, if not the fans will suck rather than blow!,

taking the stat out isnt a good idea

having a good rad is also a very good idea with a front mount i/c in front of it,

Also the normal things like water wetter in the coolant, heatwrapped exhausts etc can help loads
