Default structual surveys houses?

a house im going through the process of buying has been referred by the surveyor as needing a further in depth structual survey as at some point in the past it has been repaired when they removed some trees from the garden.

this was in 1992 and ive seen a paper copy of a letter oking it after a year saying no further evidence of movement etc?

anyone know much about this and whether it will affect anything in the future? it is being recommended that I carry on with the existing insurers aswell? but I want to go with my usual one.

I really like the house and don't want to pull out. if it does need underpinning or owt how much is that likely to cost?
