You can't do it that way.

I think you're either going to have to pay the top money, or don't buy an S1.

God, i love being old. I insured the XR2 turbo for £300 fully comp......

but, my first car (shitty orion) cost me £1200 to insure third party only. twice the cost of the car. But, by the time I was 20 I got the RST for 900 fully comp. 3 years NCB etc.

Nice one Rab... Good advice buddy!!

We've all been there and started with an old banger/small engine car then built up to performance models as we get older with more ncb.

To get a cheap quote for driving under your parents name you are going to have to incorrectly declare your parent as the main driver of the vehicle, in addition the vehicle would have to be owned and registerred to them.

Insurers have started to do what they're always supposed to be doing and have finally started to become increasingly sophisticated and alert to this (ie. LV). They should be requesting details of other cars that your parent owns and will also look at the profile of your parent and the vehicle they drive.

If you do manage to wangle a policy on this basis, you will be earning NCB for your parent and not yourself. Then if the Insurer realises their error and kicks you at renewal you will be out on your ear and having to start from Zero NCB - probably with a performance car by then.

Or, lets say you get away with it for several years - when you move out and buy your own house or want to do your own policy for what is likely to be a sports car by then. It will catch up with you then .

Your best bet is as Jim and Rab say, start with something basic for a year or 2 then move up. There is no shame in this, everyone's been there buddy.

Then when you're 21 with a year's bonus - give me a call .

Kind regards

Tony
