Sounds like a total nightmare
We don't deal with NIG, never have. But from memory they only deal with brokers and dont do business directly. Your broker receives commission to handle your policy for the year, so i'd let them know how you feel and get them on the case.
Most of our policies also guarantee a 14 day hire car in event of theft or total loss claims too. Just to get you out of trouble and help you sort yourself out whilst the Insurer pays you for the claim.
Didnt think NIG had Indian call centres, thats Norwich Union that use the call centres out there. But doesnt sound like the UK NIG claims office (birmingham) is any better.
So.. get hold of your broker and rattle their cage.
