I agree with ya mate really I do however you wil understand the need some people have for how things work and I am one of those people. I am the same at work, I do not accept "it works" but need to know how and like the satisfaction of being able to do things myself.
It sounds like the problem has started since you fitted the samcos. If it were me i would check all the pipes and make sure everything is 100% before driving all that way as you explained.
I understand what you mean about knowing what people change and check etc.. but if yo take it to Stu im sure he would give you the reason and explain how and why etc.. So you would find out in the end and know for next time
I do think you should check the engine bay for leaks tho. An easy way to do this is go to a tire shop and ask for a tire valve. Drill a hole in a plastic cup etc.. then fit the tire valve to the cup. Then place the cup into an end of a boost pipe.
If you use a normal bike pump and pressurise the system you will be able to find the leak.
