fueling
hi all
have a problem with my rst 88 mfi simptons are as follow i will be driving along and i then when i put my foot down not hard just normal driving it will start to missfire and have total loss of power and will come to a stop and will not restart if i do try it will stop straight away or it will start and carry on maybe 5 miles or even 100 miles the car does not overheat or have ingnition problems as when it does stop there is always a good spark but dry plugs even after turning over for 10/15 seconds but i do notice a strange kind of grinding noise from fuel pump and it is not always same noise and after having the RAC out he said he thinks the metering head is at fault even though he said the pump is noisey also, but ok ( mmmmmh) he removed the pipe from fuel filter from outlet and put ignition on to see if the pump was working and it was but i said could it be the fuel pump lacking pressure to push through m/head as he did not get any fuel going to no2 injector and did not check any others and only pumped for a second to check this and at the end advised me to put another metering head on the car could this be right and is there anyway of checking my self by doing a test of some sort to find out for sure before i get on the phone and pay stupid money to get the car to a speacialist , i am going to buy a uprated pump as still on standard type and just had engine rebuilt to higher spec and was running before 14psi 190bhp 220 lb torque for along time and it was on the to do list anyway , i have thought about checking fuel pump pressure but the fault seems tobe intermitant so would i get a true test so if anybody could give me some info it would be well recieved
