ive seen a few ppl locally have problems like this as already said fit a heat shield from ford also worth noting that the std starter should be fine as the 2.1 if turboed is running a low compression so hence should put the same if not less strain on the 1.6 cvh starter than a std cvh turbo engine.

or if you are still having problems fit a diesel starter as that have a bit more guts for you
