The point Lee is making is that you wouldn't put a 6k gearbox in a 3k saff, that would still require another 10k minimum to make use of that kind of gearbox.

If you're not thinking about a dedicated track car, then a 2wd for the road with a 6k 6 speed box would be just about the worst road car in the history of the universe!

In which case, that 20k mentioned about would make for a very nice Lotus Exige/Boxster etc etc.......... wish I'd have listened like that, and I'd be driving a very nice car right now!
