If you aren't going to rev much over 8k very often and its really a road engine then I can't see why you can't stay on hydraulics as Cossiemanden says. BUT I would ask someone much more technical than me!

One advantage I found of being on mechanical lifters was that when I accidently selected 2nd gear instead of 4th gear and the engine saw well over 10k revs briefly the engine got away undamaged. if it was on hydraulic lifters I am pretty sure I would have bent a few valves...

Another plus is the solid lifters sound the TITS when you reving it
