You could get into it but you would really need to do as RICS accredited Masters/post grad course... This will give you more job oportunities and a loy more money...

BUT many companies looking for quantity surveyors will take them on without any qualifications and pay for you to go to uni part time - that is what i did... It does help if you have a degree as well because a masters is only 2 years PT wheras a full QS'ing degree will take 6 years PT!!!

I gave up teaching for a couple of reasons...
- You really dont have enough support as a newly qualified teacher, i was teaching as one of 2 members of the geog dept in a 1500 school!! That meant no support whatsoever and i ended up also teaching history due to them having no teachers!!!

- I couldnt see myself doing it forever, due to the above and the fact that you cannot do anything in a school and the kids know it...

- Also, the ammount of paperwork is unbelievable!! You really have to be totally committed to the job - i play a lot of sports that take up weekends but this is not really an option in your 1st couple of years!!

To be fair, some-people may really enjoy it but i ended up a a naff school as my 1st so i got a very poor introduction to my career!!

Give it a go - you get paid for doing the course and it is only a year!! If u dont like it, u can do something else, but if u do - one extra (much needed) good teacher!!!
