Actually not true. The EDIS module puts out a separate signal in one pin to drive a standard rev counter, but for some reason it was not used in CVH efi cars. Instead the signal was taken directly of one of the coils. One coil sparks half as often as a standard distributor coil so the rev counter reading was doubled to correct this.
