it controls boost, its not a power or responce issue.
Sorry Steve, thats not quite true.
Its a common misconception that the wastegate solely controls boost, but it doesnt.
Have a quick read of my turbo essay and then look at the turbine housing size and what fundamental change happens to the turbine housing when we reach peak programmed boost pressure and the boost control starts.....
