Rings are fairly accuratly made where as no-one seems interested in boring a block with any process better than stones and oil!
stones and oil???????? thats honing, whenever i have bored barrels/cylinders i have used a boring bar........as you do not get a tapered bore with a hone
and as for rings, there accuracy is very debatable, especially all the ones i have ever been supplied.....
i generally find rings are a lot softer than cylinder bores hence changing them a couple times to a bore and not the other way around
