I’m having a serious issue with my 2015 Ford Focus EcoBoost and could really use some advice.
Currently, the engine is experiencing significant power loss and runs very shakily. There is a noticeable throttle delay both when I step on the gas pedal and when I release it. Furthermore, the AC fails to turn on 99% of the time. On the rare occasions it actually works, the engine power drops so drastically that the car is unable to move from a standstill.
Here is the timeline of events leading up to this:
It started with an unusual noise from the engine bay and intermittent AC cooling. I had the AC compressor replaced, which fixed the temperature issue but not the noise. My mechanic then suggested the alternator was the culprit, but I suspected the water pump because my coolant levels were dropping. Despite the mechanic replacing the alternator bearings, the noise persisted.
A few weeks later, the noise became louder, so I took it to a Ford Service Center to have the water pump replaced. They successfully resolved the noise issue (confirming it was the water pump), but during testing, they notified me that the engine now had low power and no torque. They tried replacing the spark plugs, but it didn't help.
After a month of Ford being unable to fix it, I took the car to another shop. They checked the timing and replaced the fuel filter, yet the problem remains. Could an electrical fault be forcing the car into "Limp Mode," even though the dashboard indicates it is in "Normal Mode"?
I have also noticed several
"U-series" diagnostic codes appearing across various modules from time to time, mostly indicating a
loss of communication between systems.
I would really appreciate any help or ideas you might have. Thank you!
