I just installed a new stereo (BOSS UAB508 60W) in my escort and started having some strange electrical problems.
The overhead clock turns on when I press the overhead light buttons (but the overhead lights do not turn on) and when the clock is on, the stereo stops working. The clock didn't work before I installed the stereo. The automatic shoulder belt also stopped working while I was messing with it last night.
When the stereo is on, it can properly output to the sound system until it's using too much power (???) such as when it tries to output at a volume higher than 25/40 or when it attempts to read a disk.
Posting here may be a shot in the dark, but looking at some posts y'all seem more knowledgeable than reddit. I don't expect to get a solution, but some pointers or mk3 escort wiring diagrams would be a big help.
