I tried to do this over the weekend, the fan wires i have found and they are connected into a brown and red/black wire, this wire then goes into the loom, i have checked all of the fuses and all look ok - Am i correct in thinking the fuse will be visably broken if its knackered!

Dam right, i would love to get new electrics in this, the wiring is def not the way i would want it, i will ask my mobile auto elec guy how much to put a new loom in!!
