Default 1986 Sierra 2.0 OHC doesn't like throttle.

Had to put in new spark plugs, wires, dizzy cap and rotor. Car starts up pretty well, but when giving it throttle it sort of pops or backfires in a way (without flames) out the carb and then stalls. Now I'm no carb guy, but this sounds like too much fuel right? If I am very very gentle with the throttle, and press it down very slowly then it goes up in RPM with absoloutley no problem. From my basic understanding there is some sort of acceleration jet somewhere in the carb - could this be the problem? The acceleration jet squirts way too much fuel which causes it to stall? Or am I missing something here?
Is there a guide on how to properly tune these webers (has to be right?).
