Ford 8,8" Cosworth differential
Got tired of the old 7,5" breaking and I never liked the Supra conversions. Now that they are no longer available and 9" motorsport diffs are astronomically expensive I developed a direct fit Ford 8,8" differential housing and axles to fit 2wd beams with no modifications required in the chassis (OEM hanger points). It bolts on standard 2wd driveshafts. The housing is made out of aircraft spec 6082-T651 alumnium and the axles are 4340QT-steel hardened (not hardened on the pictures though).
The Ford 8,8" is a proven and extremely strong unit found in many american trucks and mustangs. They even swap Supra MK4 220mm and GTRs to this unit as its proven at 1500hp. A lot of ratios and different lockers / LSD's are available such as Eaton truetrac, OS Giken 1,5/2-way and Yukon LSD. On the prototype I opted for a Yukon duragrip LSD with Ford Performance gears.
My housing accepts all Ford 8,8" parts, such as bearings and seals in order to be as cost effective as possible. Currently we are testing out the unit on track.
Best regards,
Andreas
