I used to live in Adelaide and the cops were pretty hot on catching people with " non Standard modifications" on their cars. I had a nice V6 Ford Capri mk1 and I got pulled over and told to change the steering wheel which was smaller than standard and the Alloy wheels as they were wider than the original ones! Got a defect sticker but had some mates who helped me out till the inspection. Changed them back again and never got stopped again luckily!!
LoL
Thanks for the funny reply.
Yep - i think that they are picking on the smallest things.
Some great news though. I found the engine number as stated above the water pump. Thing is, it was not obvious at all with the metal face not grimy but I decided to attack it with some meths and I saw a speck of a number and kept on going. After a few minutes of what seemed like wasted rubbing, the number started to appear. The block is a YBP so it has been changed at some point.
Many thanks to all who contributed - job done (onto the next issue to get the car registered for the road)!
