My question to this is: These "4 stud hubs" are all the same then? Sierra, regardless of engine, OK but with Cossworth "4 stud hubs" neither?

Yes, as long as the car has rear disc brakes the 4 stud hubs are the same, so including the Cosworth. Hubs for cars with drum brakes are different.
