I have made a decision to attempt to engineer a water to air type intercooler, which will also operate like a water injection system to further cool, and create a much denser volume of charged air. I am no engineer and do not know every engineering method, so it will no doubt be an evolving project once I know what works well and what doesn't. It would be an advantage to have a planning session to draw up a rough sketch of a preliminary designs, and work on from there.

Inspiration has been taken from airtecs mk6 fiesta designs for the bracket, which fits over the bumper, crash reinforcement bar. The next step would be to design something that will be easily adapted to intercooler pipe work, allowing for suitable pipework to be routed easily, and to create an ergonomically compatible shape to be fitted in the region below the collision bar.

As far as I am aware no one has attempted to make this style of intercooler previously, I have not seen any on offer in performance car websites, and it may even be an idea for other engineers to adapt to different applications. The raw materials have been ordered and the project will be under way very soon, so watch this space. At the silly prices that water injection systems and intercoolers are offered at why not roll the two items into one and make a killer saving on the way, the savings will run into the multiple £100's.
