270 isn't a lot for a Duratec,
With 270 bhp out of a N/A 4-cyl engine we're talking about race spec. Which means it takes a lot of know-how to get/keep them running properly, a lot of service AND a total rebuild now and then.
Back in the days the BTCC was running similar engines. The top teams rebuilt them after each race, the private teams also needed more than one engine for each season.
