1. 31 quid for a multi-purpose gasket set AND the head bolts??? Buy a quality gasket like Reinz or Goetze.
2. I'm not a carb expert... it should have some part numbers cast somewhere?
3. Probably not. But I'd go for a whole XR2 (early square type DFT 32/34 carb/XR3 setup)
4. No matter when it's rock hard as long as it's got no holes!? You can replace it but you need oil resistant hoses.
5. Rings? Valve seats? Piston rings???
7. No. This is just the part number of the cast case.
Look at it... there's a part missing. On a CVH it goes across the rocker cover, on an OHV to the side, just as it was with your box.

I am starting to put a part list together. I have come across two head gaskets the Payen and the Reinz.
1) I’ve checked the number on the side of the carb it says 23-21. Is this carb suitable for a 1.6? (no cat)
2) I understand Payen make the ford ones, are they any good, better than Reinz?
3) I’ve included a set of uprated valve stem seals, I understand these will work in my car?
4) I’ve included a piston ring set, if 2 cylinders need new rings can I just put them on? Is there anything special I need to do?
5) What exhaust manifold gasket will I need? Part number 89SF9430EB.
6) While I am digging in the engine bay is there any preventative things I should do?
7) I do not need to worry about fuel injector deals with this engine?
8) Can this engine even run on unleaded? It is the 80-86 engine?
