Hi there,
During my last trip to the UK in July'19, the car renter offered me a Ford Stationwagon 1.0 ecoboost. I usually go for diesel when renting a car the reason being that I clock up miles when travelling. Initially I was hesitant to accept the car for the fact that it was a petrol. The car renter promised me that I would not regret it and if I did the renter would gladly change the vehicle for me.
I am glad that I opted to accept the offer, as my experience with a 1.0 engine was just superb!! The power that the engine generates did not let me down as the speedometer kept going up, hadn't it been for me to have to slow down (overspeeding). The ride on the motorway was identical to my experience driving a Skoda Superb. I had the car for 10 days.
Back in my country, I needed to have my Focus 2007 changed after 152000 miles. Was considering a Ford as a new car, but had to give up due to it's price. Now I own a Suzuki Baleno hybrid and the experience is great. However if your wife will be planning to use the Motorway very often, the Ford 1.0 ecoboost would be my choice.
As regards to durability I only had the Ford for 10 days and cannot guide you that much in terms of long term...
