I think the problem in a car would be the Dartford crossing. The cameras there are on all the time, which would wreck your average speed, even if you didn't get caught anywhere else. That and the fact that no one cares about people setting a record on the M25. Not exactly the Nurburgring is it

Exactly, and that's not exactly unlikely in an old Ford

If you break down, someone will have to come and rescue you. If you have an accident, more people will have to come and rescue you and, if it's serious, you're then taking up hospital space which could be needed for someone with the virus. The risk is obviously low, but I should imagine anyone with half a conscious would feel pretty bad if they caused someone else to become seriously ill, just because they wanted to go out for a little drive.
If you're worried about your car battery, just disconnect it, then it won't go flat anyway.
