Default XR3 Barn Find... have I got the time?!

Hello everyone.

New to the forum, not entirely a ford virgin. I owned several in my teens/early 20s (as we all did) though just generally beat them up!
I had a awesome 90s spec cabby (last one I owned left me 2004)
had 3 3i's and a saphcos (which I ditched )

anyhow... since I've had 4 children and an run a business... and now creeping 40 I have only gone and found my boyhood dream motor! A completely original 1982 XR3..! I'm stupidly excited and can't wait to start the resto, have wife's full support! Fancy that!!

so I'm looking forward to reading threads, getting to know what's what and where's where etc. I'll add photos when I can and update but it's gonna take a while around commitments of course.

right so. It's been stood since 1997 in a shed. At first look it looks great the roof to the sills incl arches are fine, however, it's underside is crap. Rears chassis rails, pretty much the whole floor from boot to front pans.. I'm no expert and maybe I can get patched, but, surely best to replace the floor right? Battery tray and bulk head underneath and front crossmember needing replacing too.. the rest is all surface rust (spotty everywhere in engine bay) how best to attack this) wire wheel?

I suppose first things first, get stripping! And let that dog see rabbit and go from there. Any advice welcome please and thanks for reading.

Pedro.
