Loving all the self appointed do gooders with their poxy fucking cameras putting their two pence worth in. I don’t think he was asleep but possibly on the phone, even with hands free it still distracts your attention away from the task in hand, driving the vehicle.

the anti collision system or AEBS as it’s called which brakes for you if you get too close to the vehicle in front can be switched off on the dashboard, it can be a pain in the arse as it occasionally picks up bridges and other things and slams the brakes on, not good if you are on the motorway or a dual carriageway, at the end of the day it’s not fool proof, relying on too much automation can be a bad thing,

as for the class 6 mirror which is on the near side top corner of the cab and gives you a birds eye view of the front of the cab, it’s rendered useless if you have the sun visor down as the visor obstructs it completely out of view, again not totally fool proof.

i do find it difficult to understand how he didn’t see the car or hear it, I can only assume he was distracted somehow, phone, loud stereo etc etc, I don’t think he’ll get sacked, Royal Mail is a company which is very difficult to get someone sacked from, I worked there for 20 years both as a postman and a manager
