With regards to the one on ebay, if you look on the dealers website it has had 6 owners. I've just had a look at the mot history and it has failed twice, once for headlight aim and once for a cut in a tyre so nothing major. Its had a few advisorys for tyre wear over the years and in 2017 an advisory for front brake pad wear.
For a car of this calibre I'd want to see every shred of history - bills and receipts for absolutely everything. Included in that I'd like to see receipts for decent tyres. If it's been run on budget tyres then chances are corners have been cut in other aspects of servicing and maintenance. A folder full of the complete history would go some way in reassuring me it's been well cared for. Also, even though there appears to be a hpi report on the ebay listing, I'd still be doing my own checks.
I'm really fussy when it comes to buying cars, but if I was buying something like this I would be leaving no stone unturned.
