there's a lot to be said about cars in general being so much faster now than back in the day, and you'd have put your money on the lighter car with more power being faster than the slower, heavier, less powerful car, because maths right?

but you also have to take into account that there's probably 40 years of chassis development between the 2 cars and that the escos was a heritage car that wouldn't have been spanked around the track AND that the fiesta had the performance pack

so even a remap on a daily driver escos would make it much quicker

but it's the chassis that's the biggest thing
