Let's talk about strokers...
I'm doing a bit of preliminary research for a build project and one major question I've tried to find an answer for is the current state of stroker kits/combos.
I used to drive Cossies back in the 80's and early 90's. From RWD Sapphire to AWD Sapphire and finally an Escort, before I kind-of moved on. One combo I was particularly fond of was a semi-custom stroker, IIRC 93x90mm bore/stroke in a YBD block, combined with T04 of the day on a RWD manifold, and I truly loved the powerband and response. By today's standards a single-scroll T04 is ancient but it was nothing short of amazing how a few extra cubes woke it up.
Now I want the same, just more of it. A lot more.
According to superficial research I've managed to do so far, a +14mm tall deck aluminum block with 94 or 96mm bore and a 90mm crank would probably be the ticket, but is anything bigger readily available? I mean 90mm+ stroke crank, possibly 92mm or so?
This will be fed by a B&W EFR, most likely 7163 or 7670, combined with a (currently experimental) diverting 2-to-1 quick boost valve on a RWD twin scroll manifold. While the power goal is relatively modest at a little over 500bhp, I want light-switch throttle response at as wide powerband as possible.
Unfortunately I can't say that money is no object, but I understand that this clearly will be a somewhat costly and elaborate build. The project is a kind of a RS500 "tribute car", a seam-welded Ghia bodyshell built to a look-a-like replica (I don't have the heart to b*stardize a real Cossie), with AWD drivetrain.
