The Ford and VW world seem to worry about this. Yes, if it was a pristine car, full original then I guess I can understand it but to me it is just a way to make the car go and 300 bhp naturally aspirated Vauxhall is a darn site cheaper to do than a 300 NA YB and IF you had the YB standard you could sell it to pay for the whole conversion. I can see this one is Turboed so less of an argument but if built from a shell it seems a much more cost effective way than sourcing a YB and making it work.
The heart of a Cossie would always be a Cossie...I do get that.
A MK2 escort with a BMW or Vauxhalll or Honda engine would not bother me at all.
