There is a site that offers free vehicle history reports called VinCheck.info.

You don’t need to pay or subscribe. Your personal information is not required. You only need to submit either the VIN or plate number to get the following info:

- Title Records
- Junk and Salvage Records
- Insurance Records
- Thefts, Floods and Accidents
- Sales, Market Values, and Ownership Cost.
- Vehicle Specifications, like Mileage, Engine, Fuel Efficiency, and others.
- Safety Ratings from NHTSA and IIHS
- Warranties

Their free VIN check tools can be helpful if you can’t afford the pricier Carfax or Autocheck, or if you just want to have a second reference because car reports may miss some important details.
