Depends what you are welding.

mig is cheap and easy to pick up. Easier still if you get a good one.
its ideal for car restoring.

Tig is dearer and fussier and slower. But so satisfying.
It’s a lot more sensitive to a clean work piece and needs pure Argon even on steel.
It’s ideal for fabricating but welding alloy is a whole other ball game.

i just wish I had some time for practice. I did this with a cheap Chinese Dc only tig and a few hours practice.
