People seem to talk about auto box remaps a fair bit on the bmw forums I'm on. They also seem to talk a lot about servicing the auto boxes when they get to around 80k - 100k even though bmw say the oil is for the life of the car. The oil is very expensive and it's advised to change the sump and mechatronic sleeve as well. I think you buy it all in a kit. They say it can make quite a difference when done and is really good for prolonging the life of the box and giving it a trouble free life.
My 330d has done around 85k now so as soon as funds permit I'll be getting mine serviced.
They say the oil is for life which it is as the gearbox “life” is considered to be 100k miles.
May as well get it serviced. Just a filter and oil. Nothing big.

every 3 years or 37k they’re meant to be serviced.
