who cares about the cams moving just use a spanner to turn them back. Using a tensioner is the only way to set the cambelt tension.

i care because if you get it wrong I’ve written off a £30k car!
if you don’t lock the cams the cam will move and then how do you know what position it should be in? Tensioner does nothing but tension the belt when fitted it has nothing to do with timing
