if you are drilling you will need to start with a small 2mm bit to centre the hole
then go up to a 6mm
then a 10mm
the stud is 12mm i think but it goes through a 14.5mm hole in the disc

if you go deep enough you will simply drill through the stud and the nut will fall off, meaning you only need to fit a new stud and nut

not that i've ever done this before, can't you tell i've got no experience of this
