Default Relays

Im taking it you have a relay "V85AB9P 704"...The numbers on that relay [ your missing one as you write]...31 ...15..30..1...87...87b...50..OK, that relay will be ok for a Ford....you can now connect 50 as its on your wiring loom, 87b ..is for a second output ...the relay sounds to be being for a VW golf that in the day used 2 Fuel pumps..1 Primer at Tank..ie 87b..1 High pressure pump on chassie..87, in your case nothing need to go on 87b, as your be using 50, this circuit is in fact Starter motor...so not only does the relay see a ignition pulse , but needs to know starter is turning. Fords done away with this as for Safety reasons when the S2 was introduced....reason why...if the car say in accident / broke down, even if the Ignition pulse was no longer there due to damage... broken pipe ?...who knows...cranking the engine would bring in the Pump again, possible spraying petrol everywhere, so the "better Pink" relay was introduced ..to recap..31..15..30..1..87..50..can be used on your car..87b not needed. hope ok..Pete.
