just about to start building a pair of front struts for my boys 105e. Was gonna shorten the bodies to accept 2 litre Capri inserts (struts im using are from a Ford Classic Capri )and convert to 2 1/4" adjustable platforms. Just wondering if anybody has tried a different approach before ? I could cut the tubes right out of the uprights and replace the whole tube with one from say a Fiesta or mk4 Escort etc etc and then simply add the 2 1/4" kit to them . This would allow me to use the cheaply available shock inserts. Just wondering if anyone has ever compared the the tube diameters of classic ford struts to more modern ford strut tube diameters ? If the tubes are the right size i could do a conversion for much less money . Im a qualified welder so am more than capable of welding the new tubes to the hubs......anyone got any info ? or looked into it before. ? Thanks in Advance Gary
