Mk6 pedal conversion is complete overkill.

The cable isnt under tension once off the quadrant so it will just sit there. I always disconnect from the gbox end anyway as this mean you have more cable to play with when it comes to unhooking and rehooking the cable back in.

If you stick your head under the dash its all fairly common sense. The hardest part is getting comfortable.
Ive done these enough times to now be able to do it in just sliding in from the side, but the first time i did it, i removed the drivers seat so i could lie flat(ish - as the seat mounting in the floorpan sticks up...) and spend some proper time understanding it all etc etc
